The Cumbria Suzuki Floodlight Bowling League got under way at Victoria Bowling Club at Kendal.

Victoria A crashed to a surprise 6-4 defeat to Windermere. Victoria got points on the board thanks to M Simpson and P Crossland, who picked up a 21-10 win over Windermere’s C Goodwin and J Loveland.

There was also a win for K Atkinson and S Airey, who defeated Windermeres C Wyatt and D Blair 21-17.

However, Windermere pulled off the victory thanks to J Edgar and R Lord, who edged D Hartley and A Medcalf 21-20, while S Walker and P Dobson saw off A Sanderson and I Nicholson 21-13.

The victory was assured after S Walker and R Clark collected a 21-16 win over B Newby and S Hillbeck.

In the second game of the night Holme B picked up a 6-4 win over Heversham thanks to wins by I Hayton and A Thomas, while L Hext and M Ervine along with P Sidworth and S Toon also picked up crucial victories.

On the Tuesday night Holme A saw off Burneside 8-2, while Milnthorpe routed Sedbergh 10-0. Derby bragging rights were up for grabs on Wednesday night after Victoria B edged out rivals Subscription B 6-4, while Netherfield routed Staveley 8-2.

The first week drew to a close on Thursday after Abbot Hall edged Windermere 6-4, while Lindale routed Heversham 10-0.

The league matches are played on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights between 7pm and 9pm at Victoria Bowling Club in Kendal.
