More than 600 competitors from all over Europe took part in the 2016 Budo Nord Cup, in Lugi, Sweden.
Organised by Kendal Judo Club, a group of local players flew to Sweden to take part in one of the biggest competitions of the year.
Of the local players Kendal’s Poppy Howe came out with a bronze medal in the Girls u-15 under 40 kilos. Taking part in her first International competition Poppy came through the first round pool with Gretha Ostlind from Sweden but then had the misfortune to come up against the eventual gold medallist, Mae Bostock from north east England and had to settle for a bronze medal.
