MILNTHORPE Corinthians came out 3-2 winners against Cartmel & District to secure the Westmorland FA Office Technology Senior Challenge Cup.

Cartmel had the best of the opening exchanges and scored with a goal with a set piece from Matthew Burrows on 32 minutes.

The second half started with Corinthians putting Cartmel under more and more pressure.

Corinthian’s Elliot Bousfield put his side level with a twenty yard strike giving Cartmel goalkeeper Andrew Kendall no chance on 55 minutes.

Corinthians went ahead five minutes later when Richie Sandham prodded the ball home to make it 2-1 after a penalty box scramble.

Three minutes later Peter Baxendale scored his twenty sixth goal and Corinthians 100th goal of the season to extend their lead 3-1.

Cartmel pulled one back to make it 3-2 on 70 minutes from Sam Taylor with another set piece.

Danny Coid forced Kendall into a superb save from a 25 yard free kick that was heading for the top corner.
