WINDERMERE Golf Club’s head professional Simon Edwards has won the Aberdovey & Royal St Davids pro-am in Wales, his ninth win of the season.

Scoring rounds of 70 and 69 to finish on a two round score of 139, Edwards battled tough conditions against 160 other competitors to take the title.

It has been an extraordinary season for Edwards, who last month won at the Yorkshire PGA Premier pro-am, held at Ganton and Fulford golf clubs.

In August, he came first at the Crosby Beacon Trophy open competition with a score of 67; and in March, triumphed in the golfbreaks.com Pinehurst pro-am competition at Kiawah Island.

In February, he produced a string of birdies during the PGA North Taylor Made overseas pro-am in Portugal, returning 23 birdies and an eagle across four rounds.

This week will see Edwards attempt to secure his tenth win of the season at the Tomatin pro-am at Nairn, Castle Stuart and Royal Dornoch.

“I’m very pleased with my performance at Aberdovey & Royal St Davids, in particularly windy conditions.” said Edwards. “Let’s hope I can secure my tenth win in Scotland this week."
