ULVERSTON’S golden girl Chloe Jackson provided one of the star turns at the Blackpool Swimming Championships.

Chloe produced one of her best performances of the season to win the 200 metres Butterfly race and claim gold.

Off the block in double quick time, she was soon into her rhythm and set a furious pace in the pool as her power and technique proved too much for the opposition in the final stretch.

Chloe was accompanied by Maisie Allonby, who made it into the top ten for the 50 metres Breastroke, while Adam Jones and Adrian Lee-Cheong all gave a good account of themselves against some strong opposition.

Meanwhile, at the Griffin Gala at Whitehaven, Indya Sharp and Shannon Parker carried the flag for the club.

Both girls are in the 11-year-old age group, and they managed to avoid a clash in the poll until the 50 Metres Butterfly event.

But it was Sharp who set a relentless pace early on, and out of the turn she turned on the power.

However, Parker remained amongst the challengers, keeping her main rival firmly in her sights.

Into the pressure zone, though, Sharp produced another injection of pace to snatch gold, with Parker taking the bronze medal.

Sharp then just missed out on a second gold in a blanket finish in the 50 Metres Backstroke, while Parker was unlucky to lose narrowly in the 50 Metres Freestyle and 100 Metres Individual Medley.

With awards down to sixth place, Brodie Scales (Backstroke/Individual Medley), Abigail Miller (Backstroke), Rowan Bartlett (Butterfly/Backstroke/Freestyle and Maisie Allonby (Backstroke/Breaststroke) all performed well.
