AMBLESIDE played host to Furness at Galava Park on Saturday and despite missing several regulars, they put in a dominant performance to claim the points.

From the first whistle the Ambleside forwards looked to take the game to the Furness pack and after an early Stephen Mathews penalty captain Steven Bragg smashed his way over for a converted score. An early injury set back brought Joe Turner on to the field at number 8 and it didn’t take him long to find the try line brushing off three would be tacklers to add another five points to the score, Mathews adding the extras.

Mathews and Roe in the centres started to find gaps in the Furness midfield and after quick ruck ball Ben Roe found space around the full back and dot down for another seven point score.

Ambleside carried on in the second half where they finished the first and after Conor Toms had secured a turn over at a ruck, quick hands released Roe to sprint in untouched from 25 yards.

Ambleside had Alfie White sent to the bin for a deliberate knock on and had to wait for the final five minutes for their last score as Turner forced his way over for his second try of the game to bring the final score to Ambleside 34 - Furness 0.

Ambleside face Whitehaven 2s on the March 14 at home in the Cumbria Vase Semi-Final. All support welcome for a 2:15pm kick off.
