THIS weekend sees the finale of the popular Lakeland Trails series, with the aptly named 'Dirty Double' events on both Saturday and Sunday at Glenridding.

Over 2000 competitors will be taking part in the various events, from all over the UK, along with overseas visitors from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada, USA, Sweden, Norway, Holland, Germany, Belgium, France and Ireland.

Saturday’s Helvellyn Trail, has events of 10km and 15km and takes in a circuit around the lower slopes of the Helvellyn massif.

Sunday’s Ullswater Trail Finale is a unique event, with a half hour cruise aboard the Ullswater Steamer “Raven” to the start in Howtown, then a 10km or 14km run back along one of the most scenic lakeside trails in the UK, back to the finish at Glenridding.

The Lakeland Trails are family friendly sporting festivals, taking place on footpaths/bridleways and the start and finish arena will be on Jenkins Field in Glenridding with event car parking at King George V Playing Fields in Patterdale. The Segretta Stompers New Orleans Jazz Band and singer/songwriter Pete Lashley will be preforming live throughout the day.

Children’s fun runs startat 12.15pm, where the children run short laps of the finish arena and every child finishing receives a medal. There are trade and retail stands, food and drink stalls and a live commentary with MC.
