Last Sunday 20th July, 2008 I attended Ulverston Inshore Rescue Fun Day and I was wearing two hats, so to speak. I am a member of the Management Committee of Ulverston Inshore Rescue and I was also invited to attend in my capacity as Mayor.

The event started at 10-00am and finished at 4-00pm and the venue was GlaxoSmithKline Sports Field. Fortunately the rain kept away. There were Stalls, Tombola, Gift and a Car Boot Sale. For the children there were Donkey Rides, Bouncy Castles and Hovercraft Rides,if all this was not enough you could visit Ulverston Inshore Rescue Station where rescue equipment for all the services (Fire, Ambulance and Rescue) were on show.

One of the main events of the day was the Annual Tug of War and this was the reason I was there in my official capacity to present the prizes. This years winners were Urban Legendz and in second place was the Ambulance Service. Next year the organisers want to have an official Junior Tug of War as the children enjoyed practicing so much.

It was an excellent day and it was great seeing so many children running around in the fresh air enjoying themselves.
