A group of Cumbrians have finally returned home this week after tackling Mount Everest for charity.

The fundraisers arrived in Kathmandu, Nepal's capital, on Tuesday, April 16 and it would not be until the end of the month that they were reunited with the families who have been supporting them from afar.

The 'tremendous' amount of money that has been raised in the process will be going to St Mary's Hospice, based in Ulverston, with the charity organising these events to bring in vital funds for their service.

A spokesperson from St Mary's said: "We could not be any more proud of everyone who took part in the trip.

"It's a once in a lifetime adventure and you could take part in it too next year."
