A PRIDE community group held its first drag bingo night to raise funds towards the first pride festival in town.

Ulverston Pride Community Group part of Community Solutions Group held Ulverston's first drag bingo night at the Laurel and Hardy Museum on April 20.

The evening was a sold-out event to fundraise for Ulverston Pride Festival planned for July 20.

The night was hosted by Kendal's Nova Gina and Ulverston's Patty Dale. The evening was a mix of cabaret songs and bingo with plenty of audience participation and finished with a raffle drawn by the Town Mayor Michelle Scrogham.

Prizes were donated by the local businesses and the evening raised over £1300 that will go towards bringing the first pride festival to Ulverston.

Alasdair Wilkinson-Marsh, Festival Director, said: "The evening went amazingly. I am overwhelmed by the generosity we received on the night.

"We had plenty of requests for another so we will definitely look to doing more nights in the future."
