The Kendal community embraced the transformation of their historic library building with a celebratory family fun day.

Recently refurbished, Kendal Library saw a huge turnout when it hosted an exciting range of activities and workshops for families, visitors, and dignitaries.

Throughout Saturday, September 16, attendees engaged in storytelling sessions, tombola rounds, treasure hunts, exhibitions, and a multitude of other exciting activities.

A variety of workshops were organised by the Adult Learning team.

These included sessions on arts and crafts, family learning, and ESOL.

RagTag Arts also contributed by conducting a unique recycling craft session, inspired by reading and the sporty summer reading challenge theme.

Cllr Virginia Taylor, Westmorland and Furness Council Cabinet Member for Sustainable Communities and Localities, conducted the official ribbon-cutting ceremony.

She was joined by the Leader of the Westmorland and Furness Council, Cllr Jonathan Brook, to commemorate the occasion.

The Kendal Library, with its new layout, has enhanced its visitor experience offering library services along with Local Studies and Adult Learning.

The refurbishment has introduced new seating areas and signage to improve browsing.

The library also showcases modernised Adult Learning facilities, a dedicated pram park and an upgraded local studies area amongst other enhancements.

Cllr Virginia Taylor, Westmorland and Furness Council Cabinet Member for Sustainable Communities and Localities, said: "I was honoured to take part in the opening of our newly redesigned library building in Kendal, it has undergone an extraordinary transformation.

"Thank you to everyone who came along to share the moment witnessing these remarkable changes, as well as joining in the celebrations. The day had a range of wonderful activities for families and for people of all ages.
