The court heard how on August 2 this year, two Cumbria Constabulary constables became aware that Millington was on a bus heading from the Ormsgill area into Barrow town centre.

Suspecting Millington was involved in the supply of drugs they boarded the bus, asked Millington to step off and searched him.

In his jacket pockets they found individual wraps of a substance tests later showed to be crack cocaine and one large bag of a substance later proven to be heroin.

The cocaine had been split up into 43 individual ‘deals’ with an estimated street value of between £850 and £900.

The heroin was estimated to have a value of at least £2,500.

He was taken into custody where he admitted to officers the substances in his pockets were cocaine and heroin.

Millington gave no comment responses in his police interview but admitted the charges against him at court.

Sergeant Jamie Eaton said: “Millington’s arrest ensured a significant amount of Class A drugs was taken off the streets.

“The officers involved in the arrest acted swiftly on the intelligence they were given and were able to apprehend Millington and search him whilst he remained in possession of a considerable amount of drugs.

“The swiftness of the conviction and the sentencing shows how seriously the police and the courts take this type of offending and sends out the message that drugs have no place on the streets of Cumbria. If you are found in possession we will bring you before the courts and you can expect considerable jail time.”
