In 1933, the MG factory built 21 special supercharged MGs - one is now known as the ‘missing Ambleside MG’.

Several of these cars went on to break world speed records in the coming years One MG J3 was owned by Arthur Knowles, who was a reporter working on Donald Campbell’s attempts to break the World Water Speed Record on Coniston Water. He also frequently reported on Power Boat races on Windermere in that era.

When last heard of the car was said to still be in the Ambleside area.

Is it now resting quietly in your barn or shed? There are many MG enthusiasts who would like know what has become of it; can any of the Gazette’s readers help?
