Mr Forder questions the will of God and the will of mankind in the cruel treatment of animals (Letters, January 14, 'Slaughter in God's name').
The inflicted misery he so passionately described is tragic. Whether it is the will of any God is for others to debate. My view is that if it can be stopped, it should be.
If you share this view I would encourage you to consider supporting Compassion In World Farming - a charity dedicated to ending factory farming, caged animals and the cruel, long-distance transportation of livestock. Further details can be found at www.ciwf.org.uk.
CIWF recognises that animals are farmed for food and does not take a moral high ground on this issue. They simply seek to ensure that along the way, animals do not suffer from pain, neglect or cruelty in pursuit of profit.
