EXTRA patrols and random speed checks are to take place on alternative roads which drivers are using to avoid heavy congestion on the A590.
Earlier this month the Highways Agency began a six-week long £272,000 project to repair foundations on a stretch of the A590 at Lindal-in-Furness.
The work has been causing tailbacks in both directions with some drivers choosing to divert around the congestion by travelling through Great Urswick.
This week Cumbria Police said they have received numerous complaints about speeding vehicles near to Low Furness School in the village and as a result will monitor the area closely.
